Situated in a leafy suburb just minutes from Altrincham town centre, Bowdon Preparatory School (BPS) is an established, independent day school for girls aged 3-11 years. BPS has an excellent reputation for academic achievement and prides itself on providing a happy, nurturing and stimulating environment for its pupils to thrive in. We enable each girl to grow in confidence and to acquire fundamental life skills in preparation for the move up to senior school.
Our Vision at Bowdon Prep School (BPS) is to empower girls to believe in themselves and to persevere and succeed in all that they do. Read more about our core values here.
The extra-curricular provision at BPS is extremely broad and varied, with a wide range of activities and clubs that take place before school, at lunchtime and after school. The challenging and exciting activities support the curriculum in ways that make our children happy to learn, while enabling them to make the most of their abilities.
Our staff are enthusiastic and caring professionals, truly dedicated to getting the best out of our pupils. We believe our staff are our greatest resource; they are inspirational practitioners who build on our continuing success and academic excellence. BPS staff have the highest expectations of every pupil and the vision and skills to make great contributions to our fantastic school whilst valuing every individual.
Favourite thing about working at BPS?
I have loved every opportunity and challenge that each post has brought but what makes BPS so special is the team of professionals I have the privilege to work with. Someone told me 12 years ago that being a Head was a lonely position – I feel blessed to have never experienced this.
Proudest career moment?
I was thrilled to be invited to explore the Headship at Bowdon Prep. As soon as I met the Board of Governors, I was elated by their vision and commitment and had no doubt that I wanted to be part of the team
Favourite thing about working at BPS?
Being given the opportunity to fulfil my role as Head of Lower School – creating a personalised learning journey for every girl, and offering a smooth transition into our Upper School.
Proudest career moment?
Opening a new Early Years Centre and seeing it full of wonderful staff and children. That’s why I’m so excited to be here at BPS, to begin a new adventure with a fabulous team!
Favourite thing about working at BPS?
Girls who are excited to learn about all aspects of the curriculum and school life.
Proudest career moment?
When girls encapsulate all we’ve been striving to instil in them…a spine-tingling choral speaking performance, and telling an Outward Bound instructor that challenge is ‘all about getting back on your metaphorical horse when you’ve fallen off.’
Favourite thing about working at BPS?
One of my favourite things about Bowdon Prep is witnessing the girls develop their confidence. This in turn, ignites a fire inside them where they are not fazed by challenge, they simply embrace it.
Proudest career moment?
My proudest career moment was watching the Year 6 netball team become ISA National Champions at our very first attempt in 2017.
