Application Process

We are delighted that you are considering BPS for the education of your daughter. We understand that choosing a new school can sometimes be a daunting task, but our Admissions Officer, Mrs Sharkey, is on hand to answer any questions you may have. Prospective parents are welcome to contact Mrs Sharkey to check the availability of places and to discuss the application process in more detail. Please call 0161 928 0678 or send an email to admissions@bowdonprep.org.uk

Entry points and admissions procedure

The main entry stages for girls into BPS are Kindergarten and Reception, at ages 3–4 years. Although we pride ourselves on small class sizes across the school, vacancies occasionally occur in other year groups. Admissions procedures differ depending on the age of your daughter. The process usually begins with a visit to the school for a pre-arranged, personal tour. For Kindergarten, we offer a Stay and Play session, for Pre-Prep, a taster session and for Prep, a Taster Day.  The day involves being paired up with a buddy, meeting her teacher, spending time in and out of the classroom, and generally getting a feel for life at Bowdon Prep. The girls tend to have a wonderful time and often their favourite part is the delicious lunch!

Kindergarten (ages 3-4)

There are two classes in Kindergarten. Girls can start with us during the term that they turn 3 years old. There is no specific entrance assessment for girls joining us in Kindergarten.

Pre-Prep (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, ages 4-7)

There are a limited number of places available for entry into Reception at age 4 years. As with Kindergarten, there is no specific entrance assessment for girls joining us in Pre-Prep.

Prep (Years 3–6, ages 7–11)

For girls wishing to join us in Years 3-6, there is a formal entrance assessment and we will also request a comprehensive report from their current school.
