Girls Go Back to the Workhouse

Weaverhall Workhouse, opened in 1839, had 60 new inmates from BPS this week. The girls were soon put to work, picking oakum, making rag-rugs, doing the laundry and churning butter. We are not so sure that they enjoyed Victorian school though…..the Headmistress may have been a little too strict!
