As a specialist teacher and Head of Science, Mr Horridge teaches across all year groups in the Prep department, covering a wide range of topics.

This week, during Year 5’s Science lesson, he demonstrated how a variety of foodstuffs, a potato masher, washing up bowls and a pair of tights could be used to show the passage of food through the human digestive system! They discovered that the small intestine is 7 metres long and about 2.5cm in diameter and feeds into the large intestine. During the session the girls were introduced to new vocabulary and definitions of processes and substances such as peristalsis, enzyme, hydrolase, protease, amylases as well as why our tummies rumble.
