Senior School Transition – Part 4

28th September 2020

In previous website articles we have highlighted the ways in which Bowdon Prep supports our girls for their transition to senior schools.

Although the Summer term was one of many challenges, we continued to prepare our girls, whether it was through online learning during the lockdown period or when they returned to the classroom in June. None of the usual end of term activities were able to take place but we ensured that, in their bubbles, the girls were able to celebrate their time at BPS.

This year was no different in that we ensured that the girls went on to the school that was right for them, with BPS alumnae moving to Altrincham Girls’ Grammar School, Loreto Grammar School, Manchester High School, Withington Girls’ School, Sale Grammar, Alderley Edge, Cheadle Hulme School, The King’s School Macclesfield, Knutsford Academy, North Cestrian and Wellington School.

We were delighted that several girls also achieved scholarships from their chosen schools in the areas where they excelled either in the entrance examinations or on sport assessment days. For entry in September 2020 there were scholarships offered for academic achievement, art, sport and drama which reflects the wide-ranging opportunities available at BPS.

The girls themselves are our greatest ambassadors and there must be nothing better than a member of staff receiving contact from one of our recent ‘old girls’ at the end of her first week at Altrincham Girls’ Grammar School.

Hello Mrs Hughes,

I am emailing to say that I have settled  in very well to AGGS and made many new friends 👭. I also wanted to say that I came extremely; prepared for all of the lessons and almost all of the science work which we have done so far, we had already done at BPS . We are ahead of most of our class in the way of netball (rules, tactics and techniques). I wanted to thank all of my teachers and form tutors for preparing me and everyone else for everything to come.

Best wishes and thanks,

Dania 😀
