Sports Pitches
Our multi-purpose sports pitches provide a versatile outdoor space that supports both our varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular programme. The area includes four netball courts and four tennis courts, alongside flexible space for other invasion games, as well as a 50-metre athletics track.
These facilities enable us to host our whole-school Sports Day along with a range of fixtures, festivals and tournaments across the year, ensuring pupils have regular opportunities to train, compete, develop their skills and have fun.

STEM Room
Our purpose‑built STEM room at Bowdon Prep is an innovative and inspiring space designed to enable pupils to research, explore, design, create, test and evaluate their ideas. The room supports a full cycle of problem‑solving, allowing pupils to apply their learning to real‑life scenarios, develop solutions and refine their designs through hands‑on experimentation. As a truly multifunctional environment, it provides rich opportunities for pupils to apply and deepen their understanding of maths and science, while making clear links to Design Technology and engineering thinking.
Equipped with access to ovens, specialist tools and a wide range of construction and practical materials, the STEM room allows pupils to engage in numerous practical challenges, from building prototypes and testing structures to investigating mechanisms, and evaluating the effectiveness of their designs. The space encourages creativity, critical thinking and resilience, giving pupils the freedom to explore how ideas work in practice and to approach problems with curiosity and confidence. It is a vibrant hub where innovation thrives and where pupils learn to become imaginative designers, thoughtful engineers and effective collaborators.

Prep Classroom
Our Prep School classrooms are dynamic, inspiring spaces designed to foster academic rigour, curiosity, and a genuine love of learning. Each room is thoughtfully arranged to support a balance of structured teaching and active, hands‑on exploration, enabling pupils to engage deeply with ambitious content across the curriculum.
Flexible grouping is a core feature of our learning approach. Pupils work purposefully in whole-class sessions, small collaborative teams, or targeted teacher-led groups, ensuring that every child is challenged at the right level and supported to achieve their full potential. Specialist teachers bring a rich variety of teaching styles—from explicit instruction to inquiry-based and problem-solving methodologies—creating vibrant and engaging lessons that cater to different learning strengths.

Main Playground
Our main school playground offers a wonderful sense of space and freedom. Surrounded by greenery, it is a place where friendships flourish and imaginations thrive. The open space allows children to run and play, climb on the multi‑play equipment, enjoy quieter moments with friends in the gazebo, and practise for our much‑loved concerts and end‑of‑year performances on the stage. The charming and much‑loved willow tree adds a magical touch, offering a special spot for imaginative games or peaceful moments beneath its sweeping branches.
The playground complements both our Early Years playground and the all‑weather sports pitches, creating a seamless outdoor environment for children to play, explore, and enjoy being active.

Library
Our library is a cherished and distinctive feature of our learning community, reflecting our deep commitment to nurturing a lifelong love of reading. Purposefully designed as a warm, inviting, and stimulating space, the library welcomes pupils from Kindergarten through Year 6, offering an environment where curiosity thrives, imaginations are sparked, and a passion for stories and knowledge is cultivated from the earliest years.
The library houses a thoughtfully curated collection of fiction and non‑fiction, carefully selected to support pupils at every stage of their reading journey. From beautifully illustrated picture books for our youngest readers to engaging chapter books, classic literature, high‑interest non‑fiction, and contemporary titles, the breadth of the collection ensures that every child can find something to delight, challenge, or inspire them. Alongside, pupils also have access to a wide range of books that explore themes and experiences relevant to young people growing up in today’s world. This balanced and diverse selection allows pupils to see themselves reflected in what they read while also opening windows into different lives, ideas, and perspectives.
Prep pupils visit weekly for timetabled library lessons, taught by a specialist teacher who nurtures comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary development through high‑quality texts and purposeful reading activities, giving pupils the skills and confidence to read with understanding and independence, encouraging thoughtful discussion and a deeper engagement with literature.

Go Explore
Our Go Explore area is an outdoor space designed for pupils to connect with nature and observe how it changes through the seasons. The area includes an outdoor classroom that supports hands-on learning in science and geography, whatever the weather.
Here, students enjoy exploring, working together, building, creating, and making nature-inspired art, fostering curiosity, teamwork, and practical learning in the open air.

EYFS Playground
We have a welcoming and thoughtfully designed EYFS playground that caters for all children aged 3–5, offering a variety of opportunities for exploration, learning and physical development. The space includes areas for climbing, balancing and running, as well as access to bikes which help children build coordination and confidence. Natural materials are present throughout the playground, encouraging children to become explorers, gardeners and investigators as they take part in daily learning opportunities to grow plants, learn about life cycles and discover minibeasts and much more! Our literacy and numeracy resources are adapted for outdoor use, and zones within the playground are regularly updated to reflect current topics and themes. The area is also used daily during break and lunchtime, giving children valuable time for outdoor learning, social interaction and safe risk‑taking within clear boundaries.

Sports Hall
Our Sports Hall is a multifunctional space used for indoor PE lessons from Kindergarten through Year 6. It features full access to fixed gymnastics apparatus and vaults, as well as ample space for indoor games, dance, and fitness. Other subjects across the curriculum, such as drama, art, and hands-on investigations in maths and science, also make use of the hall. Additionally, it hosts whole-school assemblies, presentations, events, and some school productions, complete with our own staging.
EYFS Classroom
We have a warm and spacious EYFS classroom for our Kindergarten pupils, thoughtfully designed to give children the freedom to explore, play and learn in a calm, nurturing environment. The setting benefits from several interconnected rooms, allowing pupils to move between rich learning spaces and discover new interests throughout the day. Displays across the classroom proudly showcase the children’s work, celebrating their creativity and helping them feel valued and confident. Each area is carefully planned and zoned to enhance learning, offering exciting opportunities as well as an excellent interactive whiteboard which enriches learning experiences. The classroom opens directly onto the outdoor environment, allowing for free‑flow exploration where children can independently choose whether to learn inside or outside. At lunchtime, the classroom transforms into a calm and safe space where our youngest pupils can enjoy their meal together, maintaining the warm and nurturing atmosphere that supports them throughout the day.

Art Room
We are proud to have a dedicated and well-resourced art room full of light and colour. Pupils, taught by specialist art teachers, are encouraged to experiment with a wide variety of materials and techniques—from painting and drawing to printing, sculpting, and more. Science Lab
At Bowdon Prep, our science room is a dynamic and flexible space, equipped with new moveable desks that support practical investigations, collaborative group work and focused written tasks. The department is exceptionally well‑stocked with high‑quality resources and a wide range of equipment designed to inspire curiosity and encourage pupils to explore the world scientifically. This multifunctional room is used to bring science alive across the curriculum, with dedicated areas and apparatus that allow pupils to carry out a wide variety of practicals safely and confidently, from hands‑on experiments in biology and chemistry to structured investigations that reinforce key scientific enquiry skills. The space also provides clear opportunities to make distinct links to Year 6 maths, enabling pupils to apply their understanding of measurement, data handling, graphing and calculation in meaningful scientific contexts, strengthening both subjects through purposeful cross‑curricular learning.

Our ICT suite is a vibrant hub of innovation, thoughtfully designed as a flexible learning space where curiosity and creativity truly come to light. With 24 Chromebooks readily available, the room caters to every learner’s needs through a versatile mixture of seating options. Whether students are gathering to workshop ideas in collaborative groups or seeking out a quiet, focused spot to dive into a complex coding project, the environment adapts to them. It is a purposefully calm and relaxing space, providing the perfect atmosphere for pupils to explore technology with confidence and imagination.
