Reception

Our Reception children are given the freedom to grow, learn and play. We provide a wide range of activities to motivate and inspire them in both our spacious indoor and outdoor learning areas. Our inviting classrooms are bright, airy and engaging, and are decorated with the children’s work, celebrating their successes and reflecting the diversity within a broad and balanced curriculum.

In Reception, we continue with a half-termly topic focus to continually spark the children’s interests and broaden the range of themes we are able to explore. Our team also ensures that the Reception curriculum incorporates learning outside the classroom, providing unique and exciting learning experiences for all children.

Our passionate and experienced team recognises that every child is unique. Staff have excellent knowledge of child pedagogy, and our high adult-to-child ratio ensures that each child’s experience is tailored to their individual learning needs and next steps. Strong, trusting relationships are built with each child, enabling them to socialise confidently, build self-esteem and embrace school life.

Through a wide range of opportunities, our Reception pupils are encouraged to engage actively in their learning, developing inquisitive minds, exploring their natural curiosity and beginning their journey towards becoming independent learners. We ensure that the essential skills for the core subjects are given time to embed, and parental involvement is viewed as key to each child’s success and happiness.

In Reception, our team takes a flexible approach to learning through topic-based teaching. The children also benefit from lessons delivered by specialist teachers, including music, drama, French and PE.
