Sports Pitches
Our multi-purpose sports pitches provide a versatile outdoor space that supports both our varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular programme. The area includes four netball courts and four tennis courts, alongside flexible space for other invasion games, as well as a 50-metre athletics track.
These facilities enable us to host our whole-school Sports Day along with a range of fixtures, festivals and tournaments across the year, ensuring pupils have regular opportunities to train, compete, develop their skills and have fun.
STEM Room
Our purpose‑built STEM room at Bowdon Prep is an innovative and inspiring space designed to enable pupils to research, explore, design, create, test and evaluate their ideas. The room supports a full cycle of problem‑solving, allowing pupils to apply their learning to real‑life scenarios, develop solutions and refine their designs through hands‑on experimentation. As a truly multifunctional environment, it provides rich opportunities for pupils to apply and deepen their understanding of maths and science, while making clear links to Design Technology and engineering thinking.
Equipped with access to ovens, specialist tools and a wide range of construction and practical materials, the STEM room allows pupils to engage in numerous practical challenges, from building prototypes and testing structures to investigating mechanisms, and evaluating the effectiveness of their designs. The space encourages creativity, critical thinking and resilience, giving pupils the freedom to explore how ideas work in practice and to approach problems with curiosity and confidence. It is a vibrant hub where innovation thrives and where pupils learn to become imaginative designers, thoughtful engineers and effective collaborators.

Main Playground
Our main school playground offers a wonderful sense of space and freedom. Surrounded by greenery, it is a place where friendships flourish and imaginations thrive. The open space allows children to run and play, climb on the multi‑play equipment, enjoy quieter moments with friends in the gazebo, and practise for our much‑loved concerts and end‑of‑year performances on the stage. The charming and much‑loved willow tree adds a magical touch, offering a special spot for imaginative games or peaceful moments beneath its sweeping branches.
The playground complements both our Early Years playground and the all‑weather sports pitches, creating a seamless outdoor environment for children to play, explore, and enjoy being active.

Go Explore
Our Go Explore area is an outdoor space designed for pupils to connect with nature and observe how it changes through the seasons. The area includes an outdoor classroom that supports hands-on learning in science and geography, whatever the weather.
Here, students enjoy exploring, working together, building, creating, and making nature-inspired art, fostering curiosity, teamwork, and practical learning in the open air.
EYFS Playground
We have a welcoming and thoughtfully designed EYFS playground that caters for all children aged 3–5, offering a variety of opportunities for exploration, learning and physical development. The space includes areas for climbing, balancing and running, as well as access to bikes which help children build coordination and confidence. Natural materials are present throughout the playground, encouraging children to become explorers, gardeners and investigators as they take part in daily learning opportunities to grow plants, learn about life cycles and discover minibeasts and much more! Our literacy and numeracy resources are adapted for outdoor use, and zones within the playground are regularly updated to reflect current topics and themes. The area is also used daily during break and lunchtime, giving children valuable time for outdoor learning, social interaction and safe risk‑taking within clear boundaries.
