At BPS, we set high ambitions and expectations for our Prep pupils. We encourage them to work hard, stay committed, and conduct themselves with kindness and respect towards others. Within our inclusive and nurturing environment, every pupil is empowered to excel — academically, socially, and personally. Our strong record of senior school destinations speaks for itself. Through careful exam preparation and dedicated transition support, we ensure every pupil leaves BPS ready — academically, emotionally and socially — to thrive at the senior school that is right for them. What does the Prep School curriculum look like at Bowdon Prep?
The Prep years are overseen by a dedicated Form Teacher, ensuring that each pupil continues to benefit from strong pastoral care and support. Lessons are taught by specialist, passionate teachers who help prepare pupils for the academic rigours and opportunities of senior school.
Our education is broad, creative, and stimulating. Classrooms are places of discovery, curiosity, and celebration, where pupils are encouraged to think critically and develop a genuine love of learning. Facilities include well-equipped science labs, a spacious art room, ICT suite, music lab, STEM room, and a large sports hall with an adjoining dance and drama studio.
We prepare our pupils — and their parents — for 11+ entrance examinations for local grammar schools, as well as for assessments at a wide range of independent senior schools. When pupils leave at the end of Year 6, they do so as ambitious, confident, and well-rounded young people, ready to embrace the challenges and experiences that lie ahead.
What senior schools do Bowdon Prep pupils go on to?
Our pupils gain places at a wide range of leading independent and grammar senior schools. You can see our full list of recent leavers’ destinations on our Leavers’ Destinations page.
