Entry points and admissions procedure

The main entry stages into BPS are Kindergarten and Reception, at ages 3–4 years. Admissions procedures differ depending on the age of your child. The process usually begins with a visit to the school for a pre-arranged, personal tour. For Kindergarten, we offer a Stay and Play session, for Pre-Prep, a taster session and for Prep, a Taster Day.  The day involves being paired up with a buddy, meeting their teacher, spending time in and out of the classroom, and generally getting a feel for life at Bowdon Prep.

Kindergarten (ages 3-4)

There are two classes in Kindergarten. Children can start with us during the term they turn 3 years old. There is no specific entrance assessment when joining us in Kindergarten.

Pre-Prep (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, ages 4-7)

There are a limited number of places available for entry into Reception at age 4 years. As with Kindergarten, there is no specific entrance assessment when joining us in Pre-Prep.

Prep (Years 3–6, ages 7–11)

For children wishing to join us in Years 3-6, there is a formal entrance assessment and we will also request a comprehensive report from their current school.
