4 young school girls

Year 6 Flying High

16th November 2016

As a non-selective school we are extremely proud of our academic success. Generally, 90-95% of our girls secure places at leading selective schools and despite the increased competition for places at local grammar schools and the changes to exam style and content, our Year 6 girls have performed extremely well and we have maintained our high success rate. We are not yet through the assessment process and already two thirds of this cohort have achieved qualifying marks for local grammar schools, 17 of which have achieved success in meeting the qualifying mark for AGGS. In addition we are very proud that one pupil who is relocating has been successful in achieving a qualifying mark at a leading grammar school in Dorset.

A number of girls have yet to take their first exam in January, in addition to the girls aspiring to secure offers at selective independent schools, having taken the Trafford exam for practice and familiarisation purposes.

This year it is true to say that the cohort is unusual, given that 4 girls left the school having already been successful in securing places in the upper juniors at Withington Girls’ School and 6 girls joined the year group within less than one year of the grammar school entrance exams. Given the mobility of this year group, these results reflect great academic success of our learners and the school.
