Reception Open Classroom – exploring the Enchanted Forest and more!

21st January 2019

Each term, the Reception year group throws its doors open to parents and carers and lets the girls show off the great things they’ve been doing in the classroom!

This term, the highlight of the Open Classroom was the Enchanted Forest, a special place in a hidden part of the Reception suite of three classrooms where girls can let their imaginations run wild (whilst the Forest remains that is…last term there was a space rocket there!).

As well as expanding their creativity and artistic range, Reception also focuses on developing academic skills and the girls were able to show off their work in maths, English and other areas.

The four Reception teachers (one per 10 pupils) and Headmistress Mrs Gee, watched on as the girls proudly showcased both their work and classroom to their parents, and were there on hand to explain the BPS curriculum and values to parents.

Year 6 girls also got involved, spending time with the Reception girls and looking at the work they’ve been doing.

It was a delight too, to hear how happy parents are with how their daughters have settled in, how they’ve made lots of friends and how they’re enjoying everything they’re learning. Penelope’s mother commented:

“We’re thrilled at the amount of progress that she has made since being here at Bowdon.”
