Jodrell Bank

Year 5 enjoyed a science trip to Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre. In the Planet Pavilion we discovered all about our beautiful stars, space and the universe in which we live. In the Space Pavilion, we learned more about Jodrell Bank’s Lovell Telescope and other telescopes throughout the world, and the research being undertaken to discover alien planets. Our girls participated in two workshops, one of which was called the ‘Mars Rover Challenge’, a workshop where the girls were tasked with creating a landing device to safely land an egg, similar to scientists safely landing the Mars Rover ‘Curiosity’ on planet Mars. We also were able to experience a planetarium show where we learned more about planets and constellations.
